Day/Date/Time of visit: Friday 26th December 2014, 12.30pm

Our order:

Starters of tomato & basil soup and pate. Mains of roast turkey with all the Christmas trimmings. Cheeseboard to follow. Drinks of large merlot & small rose wine.

Cost: £43 before discount.

Speed of service: 5 minutes for starters, about the same for mains afterwards.

Accuracy of order: Excellent – this was a pre-booked Christmas Fayre and we had chosen the menu beforehand by email. Everything was confirmed to us just after we were seated. Christmas crackers on the table were a cut above budget which was a nice touch. Our table was by an open log fire which was welcome as it was around 4 degrees outside. On a check back we had a minor problem with the quality of the Yorkshire puddings and the sprouts. The manager was informed and we were offered those meals free. Although this was quite unnecessary, we offered to pay in full when settling the bill, but the manager was adamant that we should have the mains for free. Other establishment should learn from this. We will certainly eat there again.

Friendliness of staff: Friendly.

Value for money: Good for  Christmas Fayre.

Munch Bunch rating: 3/5.

Would we visit again: Certainly.
